FeedRoom’s Top 10 Best of E3 2018

They came, they saw, they conquered. E3 2018 could be the boldest and most ambitious E3 ever to date since E3 2011 and E3 2012. This year has one of the most numbers of sequels from high-profile IPs such as Halo: Infinite, Gears 5, Resident Evil 2, The Last of Us Part II, Rage 2, Dead or Alive 6, Soul Calibur 6, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

There are also upcoming potentially awesome games being looked forward by the community such as the anime-crossover fighting game Jump Force, CD Projekt Red’s newest open-world FPS Cyberpunk 2077, Sony’s newest exclusives Ghost of Tsushima and Spiderman, From Software (creator of Dark Souls and Bloodborne) with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the immortal Hideo Kojima’s next masterpiece, Death Stranding.

There wasn’t anything new with the hardware on any platform—just games games games and we totally do not mind at all.

With so much new games about to be released later this year and the next, we’ll be counting down the personal best games that were presented in this year’s biggest event for gaming. We will judge them according to presentation, hype build-up and overall look of the game.

  1. Halo Infinite

The moment the piano played, I almost cried from the nostalgia it brought back from Halo: Combat Evolved. 343 Industries might be wanting to pull back the fans after the disappointing Halo 5: Guardians.

  1. Fallout 76

Todd Howard himself might have won E3 just for standing still. After so much speculations, Fallout 76 is going to have a 4-player coop mode that anyone can join anytime. Also I can’t wait till I get to take control of a nuclear bomb that I can detonate anywhere in the map.

  1. Kingdom Hearts 3

13 years fly by so fast and this looks so amazing. The return of Goofy, Donald and Sora themselves was enough to hype me up but seeing the gorgeous graphics plus the new Disney worlds? I am so psyched up!

  1. Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima is branded as “Assassin’s Creed Feudal Japan” by spectators and that is a good thing. After so many years of AC fans begging for the next game to be made in ancient Japan, Ubisoft never heard them. However, Sony made an exclusive that could totally persuade non-PlayStation owners to finally buy their product: the game is just astounding from the broad landscape to the blood-spilling. Also just look at that combat!

  1. Cyberpunk 2077

It’s been 5 years since CD Projekt Red announced this. Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely going to be a blast to play once it comes out—open-world grim future setting with lots of potential action, memorable characters and lots of f*ck you-moments, one should always trust CD Projekt Red. That music though.

  1. Resident Evil 2 Remake

It’s been 20 long years since the original second game. Boy does it still scare the shit outta me whenever I remember it and I’m sure this will too. RE2 is Capcom’s answer to the people telling them that they listen. The game will have a full makeover plus the same combat maneuvers from RE4. Claire is waifu. Remember that.

  1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

I know people can’t shut up about Smash but can you blame them? Nintendo included all of the characters from the 1st game! Except for Waluigi though. This is so sad, can we hit 50k WAH WAH HEEEs?

  1. Spiderman

A PS4 exclusive, Spiderman is looking to be a love letter to all Spidey fans young and old. I’ve played all the Spiderman games, both good and bad from the 90s to The Amazing Spiderman 2 game. We don’t talk about the latter, okay? Here’s to hoping Bruce Campbell will return doing snarky narrations in the tutorials.

  1. Death Stranding

Yes, it’s as confusing as the previous trailers but hey the gameplay looks good! In Kojima we trust. We will more or less find some Snake easter eggs in here. Oh and there’s Norman Reedus and the funky fetus.

  1. The Last of Us Part II

Do I really need to explain more? It’s The Last of Us okay? Never played Part I? Well you should. People may say it’s overrated but trust me when I say it’s not.

Honorable Mentions:

Ori and the Will of the Wisp

Have you ever played Ori and the Blind Forest? Well you should because they don’t make games like these anymore! It also seems like Ori has brand new skills up its sleeve. Get ready for lots of feels and “Awwww” moments. I know Ori and the Blind Forest did.

Soul Calibur 6

I am so excited to see the return of classic characters after the slightly disappointing SC5. Oh hey look it’s Geralt!

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I am a biased FromSoftware fan and anything they create, I love. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the samurai Dark Souls we never got. Ironically, Tecmo imitated the Souls gameplay and made a mystical ancient Japanese-themed game called Nioh and now we’re here seeing From Software imitating Nioh which was an imitation of their creation. Confused much? That’s okay. Any FromSoftware lore is confusing anyway but COME ON, look at this! It looks beautiful! And damn hard!
